‘Knowledge is knowing that we cannot know.’
Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
I wasn’t everything presents final works and projects by 11 graduates from the MA Fine Arts programme 2015. Featuring a range of media and techniques, it explores the reflexive relationship between artistic learning and practice.
The exhibition’s title refers to the belief that art is unable to capture the entirety of lived or sensed experience. Reflecting this approach, the exhibition explores art-making as an ongoing cycle of experimentation, in which self-doubt and questions about art’s limitations frequently arise.
The exhibition is accompanied by an illustrated catalogue including an essay by curator and art historian June Yap.
I wasn’t everything features works by John Clang, Hong Huazheng, Warren Khong, Terry Ong, Andrea O’Ryan, Homa Shojaie, Janka Szabad, Giada Tagliamonte, Alvin Tan, Jackson Tan and Ocean Wang Jue.
